Hi, I’m regina legere.

We are living in uncertain times. It’s ok to not be ok. It’s ok to need extra emotional support right now. You may find yourself having difficulty managing anxiety & stress worrying about things out of your control. You may be feeling lonely, depressed & isolated. You may be having a hard time parenting your child who struggles emotionally, socially, academically. Your young adult may be struggling with finding their way towards independence. Your child may be exhibiting atypical behaviors or expressing worries & concerns that you don’t know how to answer. Psychotherapy can offer the guidance & support you seek.

a New York State Licensed Clinical Psychologist providing psychotherapy services for individuals across their lifespan.  I work with adults, children, adolescents and families in achieving their treatment goals.  With over 20 years of clinical and professional mental health experience, I have extensive expertise in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, bereavement, relationship conflict, stress management, chronic medical issues, young adult issues, ADHD, and parent/child issues.

A born and raised New Yorker, early on I recognized at the age of 19 that I wanted to work in the field of mental health when employed in a busy Manhattan psychiatric private practice. I graduated from New York City schools, receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the City University of New York (CUNY) Queens College (Cum Laude, 1995), Masters of Arts in Psychology from CUNY Hunter College (1999), and my Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.) from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Yeshiva University (2005). I pursued advanced postgraduate training in the Child, Adolescent and Family Psychotherapy Program at the Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies, Adelphi University (2014) and in Psychoeducational Evaluations at William Alanson White Institute (2015).  I also have extensive post-graduate professional experience working in NYC hospital settings as well as public and private schools where I have gained further knowledge and skills to work with diversity and provide a wide range of psychological services.

My therapeutic approach is a combination of Evidence-Based Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Both are tailored and utilized to best meet your therapeutic needs and achieve your treatment goals.  My goal is to provide a safe, explorative space where one can feel free to be oneself without judgment and criticism.  I aim to help you develop insights, alternative ways of thinking, and skills to cope that enable you to overcome obstacles and catalyze positive change and growth.  Whatever the concern is - the child who is experiencing social or emotional issues, the teen/young adult who is feeling lost about their direction in life, or perhaps your own desire to learn coping skills/strategies towards change - psychotherapy can help. Together we can accomplish these encouraging impacts so that you can meet your fullest potential and get to a place of mental well-being.

“Success as a therapist is not found in doing something for the client, but rather in being something for the client.”
